4. Water thoroughly and then mulch around the base to conserve moisture and reduce weeds
New plantings require more frequent watering than established plants. Wind, temperature and soil are factors to consider in watering.
Feed plants in early spring and again in early fall with an all-purpose fertilizer, following label instructions.

Care Instructions
Willow plants need full to partial sun, and soil that is moist but well-drained. They also require regular watering, especially during hot and dry weather. Pruning the plant helps to promote growth and prevent disease. Remove any dead or diseased branches and cut back one-third of the plant each year to encourage new growth. Don't place the willow plant near any structures or pipes, because their roots can be invasive. Mulch the plant regularly, and apply a balanced fertilizer once or twice per year. With proper care, a willow plant can thrive and provide a beautiful addition to any garden.
